The Canadian Booksellers Association ("CBA") has filed a judicial review application with the Federal Court of Canada. The CBA has asked the Court to quash the current Department of Canadian Heritage ("DCH") ruling and launch a formal review of amazon.ca. As reported in E-TIPS, on July 10, 2002, DCH decided that amazon.ca's activities in Canada were not subject to the provisions of the Investment Canada Act, which requires booksellers to be majority-owned by Canadians. The CBA has rejected the decision by the DCH, and has now asked the Federal Court to review this decision.
