On August 16, 2016, the Government of Canada’s Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness launched a public consultation on cyber security. The purpose of the consultation is to engage the public in order to assess opportunities arising from rapidly changing digital technology, and to assess Canada’s current cyber security environment.

The consultation invites, experts, academics, business leaders, members of the public, and provincial, territorial and municipal governments to provide feedback on four topics related to cyber security: (i) the evolution of the cyber threat; (ii) the increasing economic significance of cyber security; (iii) the expanding frontiers of cyber security; and (iv) Canada’s way forward on cyber security.

Information about the consultation is available online. The consultation period will end on October 15, 2016.
