Iceland ranked 1st overall, with 27% of its residents having a subscription to a broadband Internet connection. Iceland is followed closely by Korea, the Netherlands and Denmark, each having a broadband penetration rate of more than 25%. Together with Finland, Norway, the Netherlands and Australia, Iceland also posted the strongest per-capita growth in usage, as each country increased its rate by more than 6% during 2005. Canada is 8th on the list, with 6.7 million total subscribers and 21.9 broadband subscribers per 100 inhabitants. It also leads the G7 group of industrialized countries in broadband penetration.
