Sumaiya Sharmeen is an associate of the firm. She practices in intellectual property and information technology law, with a focus on patent litigation and strategic patent counselling.

Practice Areas

Sumaiya practices in various areas of intellectual property law, focusing on intellectual property litigation and commercial transactions relating to IP and IT licensing matters. She also advises clients on developing product pipelines and IP strategies to protect and commercialize their inventions. 

Sumaiya joined DWW as a summer student in 2012 and completed her articles with the firm in 2015. Before law school, Sumaiya completed her B.Sc. (Hons) in Genetics and Biotechnology and M.Sc. in Medical Biophysics. During her graduate research, she identified a novel combination treatment for leukemia and focused on understanding the apoptosis pathways in cancer cells.
