Gary has a multifaceted practice that encompasses the protection, enforcement, and management of intellectual property rights with a focus on trademarks, copyright, and trade secrets. He advises clients in a wide variety of industries including gaming, consumer goods, automotive, entertainment, pharmaceuticals, and more.
Gary has appeared regularly before the Trademarks Opposition Board as well as before he Superior Court of Ontario and the Federal Court of Canada. He has experience advising clients on complex licensing issues, and has acted as intellectual property counsel in major corporate transactions. Gary is also a registered Canadian trademark agent.
Gary is a regular speaker and writer on Canadian intellectual property matters and is frequently quoted in the World Trademark Review. He has spoken at international conferences on intellectual property. Gary is also a Fellow and Former Committee Chair of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) and a Member and Former Committee Chair of the International Trademark Association (INTA).
Gary has received many recognitions throughout his career, including in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, Best Lawyers in Canada, Chambers and Partners Canada Guide, Managing Intellectual Property Stars, Who’s Who Legal, World Intellectual Property Review, and the World Trademark Review 1000 for his success in his practice. Gary also served on the National Board of Directors of Special Olympics Canada where he continues to serve as Ombudsperson.
