On May 8, 2004, the Treasury Board Secretariat published the Secure Electronic Signature Regulations under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the Canada Evidence Act. Preliminary drafts of the Regulations were discussed and reviewed by a number of subject-matter experts within and outside the Government of Canada. The Regulations have been pre-published to give interested parties a 30-day period in which to submit comments before they are finalized, prior to being published in the Canada Gazette, Part II. The next issue of E-TIPSâ„¢ will include a more extensive commentary on the content of the Regulations.
