Vanessa Komarnicki is a partner of the firm. She practises intellectual property law, with an emphasis on patent drafting and prosecution.

Practice Areas

Vanessa’s practice focuses on the preparation and prosecution of patent and industrial design applications, with an emphasis on life science, chemical and mechanical technologies.  She also has experience advising on patentability, validity and infringement of intellectual property rights.  In addition to her qualifications as a lawyer, Vanessa is a registered patent agent in Canada, and was awarded the Marie F. Morency Memorial Prize for obtaining the highest mark in Canada in patent drafting in the 2015 patent agent examinations.

Prior to her legal career, Vanessa gained experience in protein engineering as a graduate student at the University of Toronto and in biofuel production while working in industry.
