Imtiaz Karamat is an associate lawyer of the firm. He practises in the areas of intellectual property, information technology, technology contracting, privacy, and cybersecurity.

Practice Areas

Imtiaz has a multifaceted practice that covers a range of intellectual property and information technology matters, including IP commercialization, technology contracting, privacy, cybersecurity, and regulatory law. He assists both startups and established businesses with commercial transactions and maintaining compliance with privacy requirements. He is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional for Canada (CIPP/C).

Imtiaz is passionate about emerging technologies and is always applying creative solutions to support clients with meeting their goals. Prior to entering the practice of law, Imtiaz completed extensive graduate research work in the medical sciences, which uniquely positions him to advise clients in technology matters that intersect with the health industry and life sciences.

He regularly contributes to professional education initiatives in technology and privacy law, including organizing and presenting in legal programs at local, provincial, and national levels.

Imtiaz joined DWW as a summer student in 2019 and completed his articles with the firm in 2021.
